It is important to realise that signs can only encourage communication between you and your baby.

 Speech is largely an invisible means of communicating. Once a word has been spoken it disappears. We have very little time to process and understand the word. As adults we know how difficult it can be to learn a new language – you might try to catch a recognisable word in an attempt to understand what’s going on and then you fill in the gaps. We can see how difficult it must be for babies to start to make sense of their native language. Using gesture alongside the spoken word not only captures your babies’ attention easily but you can hold it there for him to see. Try baby signing and you can use Bamba to make it  a brilliant game.
